After his first major screen role, District 9's Sharlto Copley is rumored to be up for the part of Murdock in the upcoming "A-Team".
As Kasper reported earlier this week, Rampage Jackson is apparently now
confirmed to be playing B.A. Baracus in Joe Carnahan's
A-Team movie, but there's still one major character left to be cast, and that is the role of the team's pilot, Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock. Played by Dwight Schultz in the original series, Murdock is known for being quite literally insane, as he escapes from a mental institution in order to help out on missions.
So who could possibly play such a fun and over-the-top role? Well, according to
Blackfilm.com, an offer has gone out to Wikus Van De Merwe himself,
District 9's Sharlto Copley. Supposedly he has yet to accept, and while this is still just a rumour right now, it seems like a pretty awesome choice in my opinion. I loved Copley's performance in D-9, and considering it was his first major role on screen, I can't wait to see him try something else. I think he definitely has the range to pull this off, and he looks the part too. Man, what a strange cast this is turning out to be! Veteran Liam Neeson, cool guy Bradley Cooper, a UFC fighter, and now a South African newcomer. Weird. What do you think, is Sharlto Copley the perfect man to play Murdock?
