The United States has a reputation for being the world's bully. Ask a European about us and they'll probably tell you we're brash, arrogant, and like the wrong kind of football. Ask any art school nerd about us, and they'd probably agree with the Europeans (though an art school nerd won't like
any kind of football). That being said, when it comes to recent Hollywood films, one thing is clear: nerds rule. Jocks, as it turns out, drool. Combing through the last ten years, we compared the box office gross of all comic book films to the gross of sports films. Our apologies to Europeans and hockey fans: we only took the top three attended US sports into account (though I don't think the box office tally of
Bend it Like Beckham and
Miracle would have helped the jock films out much).
